Hello Wonderful Weirdos!
Welcome to Part II [Smoke & Mirrors]. If you didn’t read Part I [Enchanted Forest] you can check it out here. A few years ago I reached out to Aroha from The Boudoir Lounge because I couldn't stop thinking about her photography and the way she plays with light and shadow. Capturing the intimacy and love shared between a couple. I thought it would be super cool if I had a contact to refer my clients to for their own couples boudoir or erotica session. The artwork could then be incorporated into the room I design for them. And now here we are, lol.
This design actually started out as a dungeon playroom inspired by a friend (which you get to see in March) with a colour palette of red and black. So we took those ideas and incorporated them into this photo shoot. This Dominant was a lucky man to shoot with two amazing women ;) Part I was with his submissive and Part II with boudoir and fine art model Steva. A huge thank you to these three humans!
Starting With The Mood Board
Knowing we were shooting a bondage session I included images to represent rope play. Red velvet and a dramatic damask pattern are the stars of the mood board. The allure of a handsome man in a suit wearing a wrist watch is hard to resist. It represents power and confidence. Side Note: It was fun shopping for his suit as the sales people had no idea why we needed the suit. Being in on the secret made it extra fun ;)
[Smoke & Mirrors] Design Vision
Red is the colour of passion, desire and love. Black is the colour of mystery, power and elegance. A striking statement that elicits the strongest visceral reaction. To enter is to submit. This is his domain where he is the master of her mind and body. His control is intoxicating to her senses. Her keeper, her protector, her dark knight.
The Beauty Of BDSM- The Inspection
The inspection is the start of a scene. Helping them to get into the right mindset building connection and intimacy. His hands continue the inspection and a bite to her neck, heightening arousal...so primal. Taking the time to examine and explore his submissive's body ensuring she reached the expectations and rules set forth by him. The ritual of an inspection is taken seriously but can also be fun.
Creating this living room set I wanted to include crimson red and ink black with a little sparkle. At Aroha’s studio she had this gorgeous sofa not being used and it’s debut was a special one! From the mood board inspiration she found this beautiful damask print tapestry for behind the sofa and I immediately approved of her selection. We made the studio set feel intimate by adding pillows, throws, a bookshelf and plants. I brought G.I. Gurdjieff's- Beelzebub's Tales to His Grandson: All and Everything to place on the shelf. A detail he noticed and laughed as I knew he would appreciate that little detail. And of course you can't forget to add the glitter of a crystal chandelier.
The Beauty Of BDSM- The Art of Rope
A peaceful yet intensely sensual moment with light touches to her body. Two colour rope bondage is something he has been working to hone his skills as this is a more difficult process ensuring the ropes line up properly. It was beautiful to watch. The large floor length mirror enhances pleasure for both and gives them the ability to look each other in the eye when he is behind her. I had the privilege of learning how to properly bundle the rope afterwards for washing.
Just like with [Enchated Forest] and every project I work on it's very important for me to know how the space will be used and a bondage scene is a perfect example of this. Is there enough room, will the submissive be comfortable where her Master positions her? Will they listen to music or do they enjoy silence being able to hear their breathing and groans of pleasure and pain? Power exchange, rules and rituals are also taken into consideration.

Colours are so important! If this was a white on white set it would completely change the feeling of the dark and moody atmosphere we wanted to create with a little hint of danger.
